Captive Insurance Leaders Gather in Whitefish, MT July 23, 2009 -- About 100 captive insurance executives from around the country gathered in Whitefish, MT for the MCIA Fourth Annual Conference at the Grouse Mountain Lodge. Attendees participated in a day and a half of educational sessions and networking events, including a whitewater rafting trip.
Key captive regulators from the Montana State Auditor’s Office delivered a positive message regarding the domicile, declaring they expect several new licenses to be issued before the end of the year and noting that they intend to maintain their friendly but tough reputation. The program also featured a panel of captive owners that described all the reasons they chose Montana to domicile their captive.
Recognizing the importance of federal legislative developments affecting the ART industry, a lobbyist from the Self-Insurance Institute of America, Inc. (SIIA), provided a briefing on efforts to modernize the Liability Risk Retention Act as well the latest on the larger insurance regulatory reform initiative.
